About this dataset

This is a curated reference package built from Nigeria's official health information sources (FMOH NHMIS/MSDAT, the NHMIS 2021 Annual Report, and the Countdown-Nigeria chartbook). It documents how national routine health data is corrected for underreporting, tracks the indicators the health system reports on, and catalogues the key financing and policy documents that govern healthcare coverage in Nigeria.

The data-adjustment tab shows concrete correction figures: for example, live-birth counts were revised up by 3.8% in 2021 (about 74,295 additional births) and by 1.4% in 2023, while Penta1 vaccination records saw a 4.7% correction in 2021 and only 1.5% in 2023 — a signal that routine reporting completeness is improving over time. These numbers help you judge how reliable official service figures are before you build on them.

Be aware of what is and isn't here: the underlying sources did not contain state-level insurance enrollment counts, facility density tables, or HMO market-size figures, so those were deliberately left out rather than estimated. What you get is an honest map of Nigeria's reported health indicators, correction factors, and the governing financing frameworks (BHCPF rules, National Health Accounts, and UHC financing strategy).
